Surprise Proposal at Lake Elkhorn in Columbia, Maryland

I photographed this proposal more than a month into the pandemic lockdown and it felt so good to be back behind the camera! Carter is my step-brother-in-law (lol) and his now-finance, Anne, is a friend and just a great person to be around in general. :) Carter's sisters asked Anne to go on a walk around the lake with them, but little did Anne know that in the beginning of her walk, Carter would appear! She thought he was back in Northern Virginia, where he lives, but he was just sitting on a park bench beaming at her. He led her to the edge of the lake and knelt down. And yeah...my eyes were definitely full of tears by then. It was extra-special to see something so wonderful happening after adjusting to the new normal of social distancing. We took a few more photos then I hiked it back around the lake to my car while they took selfies, laughed, and cried together some more. Then we went back to my in-law's house to have a brief celebration toast to them. So excited for you two!!!
